I have a Cisco ESW-540-24P as my main switch. I originally had a Ricoh 231n printer plugged into the wall port and never had a problem with it. Now I’ve been told to put another printer in this office in addition to the 231n. The additional printer is a Ricoh 4210n. Both printers have worked for the past year where they were without any issues. So today I hooked up a little workgroup switch to the wall port and plugged these two printers into the little workgroup switch. Everything should work fine. I’ve done this many times before just not with the Cisco back end switch. Only one printer will pull their DHCP address. If I plug either of the printers directly into the wall they pull an address just fine. I have tried multiple workgroup switches which would lead me to believe that it has something to do with the Cisco switch. Tomorrow I will try manually assigning the printers with IP_Addresses as a test but I don't want to leave them that way for management reasons.
