Just need to rant, printer question inside

Ok, so over the past 2 weeks we have been having plotter issues at work and we have found out the issue. I'll give a quick layout explaination

Server #1, serves a HP 1050C, runs windows 2000, and uses driver version 4.65

Server #2, serves a HP 1050C, runs server 2003, and uses driver version 4.70

So by connection to server 2 you automatically download driver version 4.70, which now makes us incapable of printer to server 1 via anything other then autoCAD.

Ok so my solution to my boss was update the drivers on the servers to the most recent version so they'll be all unified and work properly. Now she swears to me that if we update the drivers then we will no longer be able to use Land Desktop 2007 or Map 2007 because the printer drivers have something to do with the PC3 files and the PMP files...

This makes no sense to me, I don't see how drivers will make the print feature not work properly. So her and I have not seen eye to eye for about 2 weeks, now every printer issue we have is now magically my fault, I didn't set up any server, i only connected the printer to the computers (it was already connected, she swears I am the one who downloaded the drivers, THE DRIVERS ARE OVER 4 YEARS OLD, I WOULD DOWNLOAD THE DRIVERS FROM HP THAT ARE FROM LAST YEAR NOT SCOUR THE INTERNET TO GET OUTDATED DRIVERS!!!!)

I just want to know if this is true, if I went and updated the drivers will I need to re-do the PC3 files? Will I need to re-do the PMP files? Would autoCAD not behave and do what its told because the printer drivers are different? Do the print drivers have ANYTHING to do with PC3 files?

I'm training to be a CCNA, not a CAD manager so I don't know anything about CAD.

Oh and I might add, to avoid updating the print drivers on the old servers (yeah they are ancient) I shared them from server 2 so we cant' print from other means of printing, which once again I'm told from her that we can't server the same printer from multiple servers and it'll only cause more problems, and its a terrible work around...

I can't see how downgrading drivers to work with a slowly dying computer array would be productive. I feel updating to the newest stuff would allow us to be more geared towards the future.
