I have an aging emachines T3092 that has been faultless until the last month. Upon startup my monitor (Samsung E1920), purchased last year goes into standby while in BIOS phase repeatedly. If I am lucky to get to the logon screen and log in, 7 out of 10 times there is no problem after that. Getting to the logon screen is daunting challenge. Here is what I done do far, I checked bios for configuration errors, RAM for seating issues and memory errors, replaced the PSU, CMOS battery, replaced video card (AGP, EVGA 6200) uninstalled the driver and reinstalled the latest driver. Nothing has helped. Only thing left is the motherboard, FIC AU-31 Athlon xp. Earlier, I'd begun to rule that out when I realized I could boot into Ubuntu with no problem. I have a dual boot system, but primarily use XP. Then I experienced (1) instance of the problem with Ubuntu, but that was after I had logged on there. Would appreciate any thoughts or input. Thanx
Forgot to mention that I tried another monitor and got the same result.
