I am looking at possibly trying to run a pilot of R16 to compare to other backup options we are looking at. For my remote offices...we were looking at using D2D then using RHA to replicate to a replica site. At the replica site...I would like to take a full copy of the data monthly to tape using ArcServe Backup to meet auditor requirements.
I am trying to figure out the best way to do this. I can not backup the D2D data that has been replicated through RHA directly from what I can tell and have it be very usable. Do you know...is it possible to export a VHD of the D2D data from the remote Replica site that has been sent there via. RHA? I would like granular file restore from the tapes...but if it is not possible...I can probably deal.
I know I could just use ArcServe Backup and RHA to replicate the data. But, I want to run Synthetic Backups at the remote sites and ArcServe Backup has a requirement to re-run the non-synthetic fulls every quarter or so. I do not want to do that...I am looking at D2D because of the Incremental Forever capability largely.
I would just keep the data online on disk...however I need to keep the monthly backups for three years and I do not think I can afford to keep enough disk online to do that...thus why I am trying to send monthly backups to tape.
Any thoughts?
Thank you.
