I have recently upgraded my server to 2012 and have the DHCP option installed and a few scopes setup. I also have about 200 cisco phones spread through 10 WAN locations with each LAN on the WAN having their own voice and data VLANS and routed to HUB. I have done all DHCP through my routers but would like to change over to DHCP on server 2012.
I know I would have to put in the helper command into my cisco routers which would point back to my DHCP IP. My question is how does DHCP on say VLAN 192 - 192.xxx.xxx.xxx (data network) know that IP phones from VLAN 10-10.xxx.xxx.xxx need the 10 subnet IPs? Will DHCP assign the right subnet IPS to the right devices on different VLANS?
Will this work as stated above or would I need to do something different.
Server 2012 is virtualized and is not attached to a trunk vswitch, it is sitting on the data vlan in my cisco switch.
Thanks for any and all help.
