Question about esxi 5.1 files and file locations

Yesterday I restored an older backup (using vRanger Pro) of my VCenter VM on an esxi 5.1 host. The restore process showed no errors and the actual VM is up and running just fine. However, I now see that two files associated with that VM are located in the root of my datastore (local storage), not in the associated VM folder. These two files have a modified date and time of yesterday around 9:00 am. The files are:

VCenter-4035d5bd.vswp 4,194,304.00 KB

VCenter-4035d5bd.hlog 0.003 KB

It's my understanding that the .hlog file may be a remnant from a VMotion and can be safely deleted when the VMotion is done. Is that true?

I see that other VMs on this esxi host have two versions of a .vswp file with same naming convention as seen above on my VCenter server. Their files, though, are all contained in their respective VM folder.

Does anyone know why the above .vswp file was created in the root folder of the datastore instead of in the VM's folder? Is there an easy way to put it back where it belongs? It's not creating any problem I can see at the moment but don't want to run into one when least expected. TIA. BTW...the VCenter VM that was up and running at the time of the restore was on a different host. I restored to this host so I wouldn't have any commingling of files/folders.
