Two locations connected by VPN (SonicWALL) using very fast FiOS internet. All workstations are Windows 7 and their server is Windows 2008 SBS. A few users that access a mapped drive to the server on the VPN side occasionally cannot see anything in the root of the drive, while other users can still see the files and folders. The number of files and folders within this drive is HUGE, but that’s a little deeper in the directory structure, not on the root.
F5/Refresh doesn’t help nor does a Restart of Windows. There’s nothing under Command Prompt either. Happens sometimes first thing in the morning, and sometimes in the middle of the day.
5 or 10 minutes later the issue just goes away. Some kind of file system caching issue? Don’t understand why just a few users and don’t know how to help them reconnect to the drive.
