SCSI Tape Drive to ESXi 4.1 Shows Up But Crashes

Hi All.

The Setup:

HP Proliant DL360e Gen 8

ESXi 4.1 U3

Addidtional HP H221 HBA SAS controller with an external HP LTO4 SAS Tape drive connected to it.

Windows Server 2003 SP2 just converted to Virtual.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The vSphere console can see the H221 HBA and the Tape drive.

I can add the Tape Drive to the VM by adding it as a new SCSI device, on a seperate virtual scsi card (1:x rather than 0:x)

The Windows Server correctly displays the drive in device manager, and Backup Exec installs the drivers. However whenever I try to do anything to the tape drive, it hangs.

Everything is brand new and is happening on two of my ESX Hosts with similar configuration.

-----------------------------

Could it be that it's getting confused what drivers to use? Should i uninstall Backup Exec and anything to do with the HP Tape unit?
