We have a HP Proliant ML110 G7 that was meant as a branch office Vmware server, but guess was not compatible with 5.0. So I repurposed it to store our Veeam backups.
It currently has the HP SmartArray P212 with 256MB cache module to do RAID5. It has 4 Samsung Spinpoint 1TB F3's in it. As of late a drive will keep falling out of the array and from what I read it is probably an issue with the CCL that Samsung uses and the controller card not giving it enough time and just dropping it. Someone said to just use the software RAID on the mobo and I won't have the issues.
Is there anything I can do to stop from the drives falling out? I see NewEgg had the WD RE4 1TB for $99 and was just about to pick 4 of them, but my boss would probably question why I had to replace all 4 hard drives.
