Monday marks the 43rd anniversary of Earth Day, when events will be held around the world to demonstrate support for environmental sustainability, a concept that gains more adherents with every year as we learn more about the fragility of the planet. ShoreTel is a longtime advocate of Earth Day and concepts it embodies.

ShoreTel’s easy-to-use UC systems not only leads the industry in customer satisfaction and lowest total cost of ownership, but also can provide a light footprint that saves on power consumption and energy usage.

It’s not surprising that ShoreTel customer Ecology & Environment, Inc., of Lancaster, N.Y., a recognized global leader in environmental management, is planning a number of events Monday to honor Earth Day.

The company, which for more than 40 years has been a global leader in environmental management practices, will give away a series of awards to businesses and organizations for their work on sustainability projects, clean air, and other activities. It will also highlight its continuing work promoting alternative transportation and its efforts to help clean up nearby rivers.

Ecology and Environment recently replaced disparate legacy telephony with ShoreTel Unified Communications to take advantage of more cohesive and mobile business IP communications, virtualization, and native iPad integration.

One of the attractions of ShoreTel for Ecology and Environment was that environmentally friendly ShoreTel products offer savings on power and costs.

“Running an efficient business is one of our goals in terms of corporate sustainability,” said Bob Gibson, Ecology and Environment’s Green Programs Coordinator. ”We have to be efficient with our resources and that includes all of our equipment and systems.”
