I am an absolute Noob, so please smack me gently.
I am sure all this is described in many places, so I am not asking you guys to tell me everything, but point me in the right direction, please.
The issue:
I have inherited our Church IT environment, comprising an SBS 2003 Server and 10 Windows XP workstations, plus some BYO laptops, both Windows and and Mac.
The SBS is running only Exchange in addition to standard AD services. Backup is using Shadow Protect to a 12TB ReadyNAS. Firewall is by a Netgear UTM9S and internet is provided by bonded ADSL modem in Bridge mode.
The problem(s):
Problems are numerous, but most urgent is workstation logon time, which can take anything up to 25minutes! across our GIG network :(.
I have access to the Spiceworks knowledge base (of course), as well as having a TechRepublic membership. I also have a hard copy of the "Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2" book by Charlie Russell and Sharon Crawford, published by Microsoft Press. And of course Google.
I have everything patched and up to date, and run the excellent Tune-Up utility on the workstations.
Any help will be MUCH appreciated. Thanks in advance, (grovel, grovel)...
