In reference to our internal network, we are having an intermettent DNS issue that seems to be largely isolated to only one host. The problem is, that host happens to be DC1. Ill let you guess what that means :-P
While one client is able to access DC1 using its name, another, at the same time, is not. The client unable to access by name is still able to hit DC1 by ip address and access everything normally. If you give it some time (30 mins+) or fully shut the machine down then boot it back up (a restart doesnt seem to fix but might be related more to the machine dumping its network link and re-establishing). At any given time it seems that 6 machines or so are effected by this.
I checked the DNS logs and nothing interesting is popping up. Checked Switch routing table to see if something went buggy...nada. Checked forward/reverse lookups and forward looks good but reverse has never been used. I know we should fix this but dont want to poke the bear unnecessarily.
The big problem here is that DC1 is where we have the printers and My Documents routed to. Looking back, it was probably not the best idea but hey, its a VM, what can go wrong? :facepalm:
Can anyone think of some other routes to check into? Ive been banging my head against my desk for a few days now and have run out of google search terms that are giving me anything that looks hopeful.
