Issues with ArcServe 16.5 and media pools

Hey guys,

We use ArcServe 16.5, after long ongoing issues with backups, I built a new member server, but had to convert it to a standalone due to connectivity issues between sites and to primary server.

Yesterday we received new tapes, however they are a different brand and for whatever reason ArcServe doesn't seem to like them. Most tapes came up as un-inventoried after I have inventoried them, the drive dismounted. Mounted the tape drive, some tapes came up as "Unreadable", while other were either labeled as "Blank Media" or "Un-inventoried"

Tried formatting the new tapes that were labeled as "Blank Media", it allows me to format the tape however I can't figure out a way of how to add the tapes to "Global Scratch" media. I still have my old backup server (although I would have to reconnect the tape appliance to it) if I had to somehow export the media pool info. We use the GFS rotation with retention for 14 dailys, 5 weeklys and 14 monthlys. So, there are 4 media pools, Weekly, Daily and Monthly plus Global Scratch. I manually removed the Scratch pools from Weekly, Daily & Monthly and enabled Global Scratch pool. If I right-click on Global Scratch pool and select Assign Media, I don't see any of the new tapes. My guess is that ArcServe doesn't like these for whatever reason, although it should be appliance specific and not arc serve specific tapes (never heard of that though).

How do I make use of these new tapes ? I don't have a problem with returning the tapes that don't work for us, unfortunately all of the older tapes are now offsite and will take one business day to get thus I will be missing on the backups until my old tapes arrive. Any suggestions?
