Good way for an experienced user to get MSCA cert

I've been in the IT world for about 8 years now. I am by no means an expert in any area, however I'm not a beginner user also. I currently have just a A+ and Security+ certs, but would like to get my MSCA and then my MSCE certs.
I don't want to spend the time or money on some of these classes, as I assume most of the class would be teaching things I already know and work with on a daily basis (of course we all know assuming is a dangerous thing!).
I guess the best approach for me would be to purchase a couple of books and start reading?
