within our company lan remote desktop works like this:
win7 to win7 ok
win7 to xp ok
xp to win7 ok
xp to xp ok
Which leads me to believe all pc firewall and rdp functionality and settings work fine.
our remote users connect via cisco vpn client through our company cisco pix and remote desktop works like this:
inside lan xp to ouside xp ok
inside lan xp to ouside win7 ok
outside win7 to inside win7 ok
Here's the problem:
inside win7 to outside win7 ==>does NOT connect (rdp that is)
inside win7 to outside xp==> does NOT connect (rdp that is)
The outside clients obviously CAN accept rdp because it works when initiated by xp machine.
ONLY the win7 machines cannot use rdp through the cisco firewall to get to the outside clients
yes, the dns resolves properly on all.
yes, remote desktop IS enables (yes, some may ask me this...)
Pinging is not allowed through the firewall so it makes no difference.
the result is the same whether the win7 firewall is on or off.
all necessary pc firewall settings are good as demonstrated in the first part.
Why can the Win7 NOT connect? but the XP machines can?
Any help is appreciated, thanks.
I believe it IS some weird setting in Win7 that wasn't there in winxp.
