having problems verifying my domain with office 365

I want to migrate e-mails from onpremises to office 365 (staged).I have already verified ownership by adding a txt record to my DNS. Now i am at the stage "Set the domain purpose and configure DNS". I kept the txt record for 72 hours and when i tried to verify it,it wont verify my domain but the txt record has been removed from my view in office 365 and now left witherror MX record and Cname.

Now the problem starts. Clients cant send e-mails to us and they keep getting error message from postmaster@xxxxxxxx.onmicrosoft.com :

xxxxx@xxxx.onmicrosoft.com

The email address you entered couldn't be found. Please check the recipient's email address and try to resend the message. If the problem continues, please contact your helpdesk.

Some e-mails gets through while some are being rejected with that error message. my mx record is still intact and the only changes i made was to add txt record.

I have removed the recent record added but some clients are still having issues connecting to us.i know it says it takes up to 72 hours but its really getting to be a frustrating week for me

I have just logged in to my office 365 account and found out some messages were routed through office 365( failed and some success)

Anyone with experience with this sort of issue?
