We're looking at getting a 15 port switch for the purpose of running several network connected scientific instruments and their controlling PC's that have had a long history of network issues. That is to say, the instruments stop their runs when the network is disconnected, and that happens nightly. It is not a cabling issue- I've replaced all cables with new CAT5e in addition to replacing all the hubs (several netgear 5 ports). I want to be able to monitor the switch with Wireshark (if that's the right tool to use) to detect exactly where the faults are occurring Can anyone recommend a hardy switch and/or a method of monitoring the thing?
Thanks!
