Uninstall software via gpo

Hello all, I don't have a test network so I want to be sure what I'm doing is the correct procedure.

My domain structure is as follows.

computer (ou)

Science (sub ou of computers)

Maths (sub ou of computers)

PE (sub ou of computers).... etc..

I have installed a software at the computers OU, so the whole site has received it. Now the Science department computers (which are quite old) want the software removed becuase its taking up too much disk space.

So.. Do I

1. create a second GP with the msi of the software that I want to remove,

2. on the Advanced tab, check Uninstall this application when it falls out of the scope of management

3. assign the gp to the science ou, restart the machines. (I'm assuming this would do nothing, as the software is already installed)

4. Then delete the .msi asscociated with the GP and restart the machines again, (which will remove/uninstall the software.

Logically thinking, that looks to be the correct software, but like I say i don't have a test network and want to be sure thats the correct thing to do. Many thanks.
