One of my Windows 8 machines was an in-place upgrade from Windows 7, keeping all my data and applications installed. There were a few apps and drivers that needed to be upgraded or replaced but for the most part I was impressed with how will it worked.
I'm noticing now that I have a number of Windows Update packages that are simply failing to install and I can't seem to get them in. I've gone so far as to track down the manual install MSU file and run them from the desktop, but that method is failing as well. It looks like I have about four of five updates that fail repeatedly. (All labeled "Update for Windows 8 for x64-based Systems (KBxxxxxxx)")
Some of the related KB articles mentioned doing things like uninstalling sound drivers and immediately attempting a manual install of the update. I've tried those things and unfortunately it hasn't helped. I suppose I could hide those updates and wait patiently for SP1, but I'd kinda like to get things done right. Anyone have recommendations on what to try next? Thanks!
