Trying to use an old Apple Xserve as an AppAssure Repository...won't work

Using AppAssure 5

I have SMB sharing set up on an old Xserve. It's running 10.7.4 server.

Every time I add its share as a repository, The web browser will freeze and stop responding until I restart the browser. There are a few files in the repository on the Xserve, but it just won't complete making one. It will work if I make a 250MB repository, but I need something a lot bigger.

I've made SMB shares on my other Dell servers, and anything from 400GB up to a 1TB repository will be made almost instantly.

I know I'm probably not going to get a lot of positive feedback using an old Xserve, but... yanno, it's there and I'd like to take advantage of its hard drives if I could.
