We recently switched hosting providers for our website, but our domain is still registered through our old hosting company. The website designer that we are working with is discouraging us from transferring the domain registration to the new company because she doesn't want to "mess up our email."
I'm confused about MX records. When does a website domain need to have MX records?
Let's say that our local domain is domain.org and that we have a hybrid Azure/O365 setup (users are managed in local AD and synced to Azure). We manage Exchange settings through the Exchange Admin portal online.
Our website is registered as www.domain.org, so same name as the local domain (DNS entry www points to host server IP).
I’m not sure why our website needs a DNS entry for our email servers (provided by Microsoft).
