So I know this should be easy for some. And although I've been in IT for a very long time, some more in depth things are still hard for me.
We have a situation where our file & print server is rapidly running out of disk space on it's data drive. It is a physical server running Windows 2003.
My first thought is to setup a share on our new NetApp FAS2020 SAN that has a ridiculous amount of free space on it and then use DFS so things would be seamless for users.
My other thought was to just create a new 2008 r2 server and migrate everything over with the FSMT. But I've never used it and I have concerns about other things like printers and our SQL server auto-backing up to it and a boat load of other concerns.
I know we need to upgrade the server one day to 2012, but I don't think I have the time right now. The server will be out of space withing a couple weeks at the latest!
What would be the best short term, quick fix for this? Any advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
