Hello Spiceworks Community!
A networking project has been assigned and I am in the middle of a dilemma. The business will have at least 15 connected devices (server, PCs, printers, etc). All the walls have RJ11 ports attached to them but not a single RJ45 port and the texture they used for the wall is expensive. The business owners do not want to get the walls damaged. So, my project is to build the business LAN.
Telephone patch panel is located at the second floor but business owners will have an "IT Room" where their server, modem, switch and printers will be placed. They want all cables to run from the IT room to all the nodes. I have never installed a patch panel but my former network teacher suggested me to build the network using structured wiring and patch panel. I have never installed a network using a patch panel. How to set up a network using patch panel? how to run cables from patch panel to switch? Advantages of patch panels? Any suggestions, web links, or any other resource will be helpful!
This question might sound kinda of dumb... sorry but I only have 4 months in the IT field.
