We are using a piece of software here called lanschool to monitor lab computers. The question I have is how do I go about figuring out and measuring what has greater impact? Allowing workstations to do subnet broadcasts to deliver traffic, or a directed broadcast over a 1GB fiber to our District Office (5 miles away) and back? I know I can do packet sniffing to see broadcast traffic and I can monitor NIC of server to see directed traffic. Is there any other better ways of seeing and testing this out?
