I'm facing a bit of a problem here.... I currently attend a sixth form college in England, and study A-Levels, I'm currently in the first of two years of study. Two of the four A-Levels are ICT, but the course itself was written back in the late 90's, when consumer computing was just starting to flow through the faucet. Much of what we study and do is applied, so its things that would help a Secretary, or a Desk Worker for example, but not an IT Technician. I've got a decent amount of experience in IT overall, and the things we are studying however boring and never ending, are neither of any use to me, nor anything that I don't already know. I'm faced with the following choice: carry on at sixth form, and waste the next two years of my life with a qualification that's boring and outdated (plus, ICT is already on some University black lists for entry), and then go to University (get in about 15K's worth of debt), or; drop out of College, and get some CompTIA qualifications, and an MCITP certification as an Enterprise Desktop Administrator. I have the skills, and I'd like to get a job where I can actually start putting them to good use on a permanent day to day basis instead of temporary work contracts and summer jobs, but I don't know if dropping out of sixth form would be the right move. What are your thoughts spice heads? :-)
