Setting up RDS or VDI with Azure

I have a client with a MS Access database that they want to migrate to a cloud storage/access solution with Azure.

While a simple File Store would likely get the job done there are some concerns given the fragile nature of Access databases that we could experience short disconnects that could lead to database corruption.

Ideally we would migrate the DB to SQL but the client wants to stick with Access.

My exposure to Cloud hosting for anything more than a standard VM is pretty limited so I'm wondering if the best option is Server 2016 on Azure with RDS Licenses for the Individual users.Or perhaps sticking with a File Store and using something like Citrix XenDesktop - although im pretty sure the minumum user counts make Virtual Desktop solutions too expensive.

Ex2016 - users cannot open "all users" oder "all contacts" address lists

Hello,

on Monday a colleague told me that he could not access the "all users" and "all contacts" address lists in outlook anymore. I checked and in fact the OAB couldn't get downloaded from the server. I fixed that but the problem is still there.

Nobody - accept the Domainadmin! - can access both address lists. Can i check if there are permissions missing? If yes, where?

Updated the server and exchange, restarted the server and did health checks. Everything seems fine so i'm a bit lost now at this point.

I hope somebody can help me.

MCA Acceptance

Hi all.

We buy office 365 from Rhipe and Ingram.

On the prime portal we are getting the following message in the clients Manage Tenant.

You have not provided confirmation this customer has accepted the Microsoft Cloud Agreement (MCA). After November 7th, you won’t be able to make changes to this subscription until the information is provided. Click here to provide confirmation of your customer acceptance of the MCA. Download a copy of the MCA



I have contacted Rhipe however have not gotten an answer at this stage.

The MCA form does not have a location for the client to sign. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/partner-center/agreements

Am I meant to get my clients to sign this in just the white space ?

Or do I just Confirm each one. See MCA Snip.jpg

Ingram are not asking anything like this ?

Any help would be great.

Guest Wi-Fi using DNS/DHCP

Hey all,

I wanted to pretty much open a discussion about guest wireless networks and more to the point sanity check my own network.

Currently, we have a few WLANs, two of which are open networks. They have separate captive portals, but nevertheless are still open. The traffic runs on it's own VLAN throughout, however I have an issue with how DNS/DHCP is setup for the networks.

Guest devices obtain DNS/DHCP from our Corporate Domain Controllers. They can do all the DNS queries our authenticated and domain join PCs can.

I'm not sure what type of data you can pull from DNS but I know services such as AD use it for core communications/discovery.

So just how vulnerable am I?

Error 4999 on exchange 2016 CU10

Hi Everyone

I recently came across an issue with my exchange server, I mean I am having to restart the thing every hour because it just stops receiving emails (internal and external).

I was going through the event logs and found I am often getting error 4999:

Hello,

Our ERP is a Little Old and Runs on a Windows Server 2008, The ERP Uses SQL Server Database. Many users report the ERP Software gets slow at many times. Mainly When Opening the Entire Stock Master.

I Have currently 16 GB RAM on server. Should I Upgrade it? What all should i check before Upgrading the RAM?

In 2013 I presented the board with a new concept of computing. Working with the Group CEO who is a man of vision and saw the potential in my vision immediately. Since the first version of the new concept went live in Harris Pye in 2014, Harris Pye became the first company in the world to virtualise everything in Azure. We virtualised all our production servers from every office around the world into Microsoft’s Azure Cloud. It took around a month to synchronise all the data from the legacy servers in our offices all around the world and although we hit many stumbling blocks along the way, this exercise was highly successful. Once completed, we went further and virtualised all our servers, all our data, all our backups and then finally, all our desktop computers too.

How to stop CodeTwo Out of Office Manager from auto creating role assignment?

Hello

To anyone using/supporting CodeTwo OoO Manager to Office 365.

I have manually created a management scope to specific users, and manually created the role assignment using powershell.

However, when i complete the server connection wizard and click Verify, it creates a new role assignment (which gives access to all mailboxes) rather than using my pre-configured one.

I am able to delete this auto created one and then the app does limit access based on the manual role assignment, however, there is a risk that the "admin" person may run the server connection wizard and it will create a new role assignment which will give access to all mailboxes.

Is there a way i can stop/limit the app from auto creating the role assignment, or better yet block them from running the server connection wizard?

Exchange 2013 MRSProxy Issue

I have an exchange 2013 box and I am setting it up to be a hybrid to O365. I am running into issues setting up migration endpoints

I have MRSProxyEnabled

I can access https://server/ews/mrsproxy.svc but after supplying my credentials, I get an error about mrsproxy.svc not found. I have read only 1 other forum that someone said that file doesn't exist in 2013.

If I do testing it comes back and fails.

Ticket re-opened & No Comment

Hello,

We have the problem that when we close a ticket, it disappears from the list of active tickets. After 1-2 minutes, it will reappear with the comment Ticket re-opened.
I have read about others with this problem but then the solution has been that helpdesk@ should not be a CC person. We have tested this but it did not solve the problem. Has also read about turning off the function "Email from end users reopens a closed ticket", this is not an option as we must be able to open a ticket case in that way. ( and it has worked for a long time with this feature turned on ).

Another part of the problem is that as soon as someone comments on a ticket, helpdesk@ adds a comment saying "No Comment." However, this does not happen in the comment where I close the ticket, then there is only Ticket Re-opened.

We have not made any changes, this...

Aggiornamento automatico inventario

Buon giorno a tutti.

Voelvo chidere se ci fosse un modo per tenere l'inventario aggiornato in automatico.

Se ad un PC cambio nome, nel censimento dello spiceworks, me lo ritrovo due volte con il nuovo e con il vecchio nome. C'è modo di impostare (magari considerando un tempo di mancaza di risposta al ping dopo un mese) una cacellazione automatica dei dispostivi "obsoleti".

Office 365 Public Folder Calender Permissions

Forgive me if this is a naive question regarding permission on a public folder calendar.

In Office 365 if you have a user who has Owner permissions on such a public folder calendar, should they be able to see all entries in the calendar regardless if they are not added as a recipient to specific entries?
