I have a situation where 1 access point does not connect devices. We have Cisco 5500 series controller and about 60 Cisco 2600 series access points in building. Only 1 access point is having issue. I can ping the ip of access point and see it is joined to the controller. The access point configuration is same as the other access points. We have 2 SSID and when we connect to SSID1 it connects the devices and works normal. I see clients associated to AP on the controller. When we try to connect to SSID2 it does not connect. It does broadcast the SSID2 and I see Client listed on the controller with SSID2 and has IP address but ping fails from controller. On the device it gets 169.XX.XX.XX address and says no internet connectivity. I checked the port it is connected to switch and its trunk port and same configuration as the other ports...
Cisco Access Point Aironet 2600 Not allowing connection
To RFP, or To not RFP, that is the question
I go back and forth on the value of using the RFP process to engage vendors. I understand it levels the playing field but some of my best and longest vendor relationships were not developed through and RFP process.
I'm curious, how do you engage vendors? Do you RFP for every project or do you build relationships in other ways?
AAD Connect - SSO
Hello All,
Right now i currently utilize AAD Connect with Password Synchronization. I am wondering that if i enable Seamless Single Sign-On will it disrupt any of my users when i make the update, or is it completely dependent on me pushing the GPO to update the users Intranet to the proper URLs.
*Side note, i am planning on moving away from Password Synchronization to Pass-through authentication eventually*

How to configure Office 365 ProPlus to install as part of MDT
Very new to MDT:
I used ODT to download the Office 2016 ProPlus x64 setup files in D:\ODT. I now want to be able to use MDT to deploy Office as part of the deployment process.
How do I configure the install.xml file and also configure the task sequence for it?
Stop Visio from printing the whole god damn file, I only wanna print one page!
Hello clever people,
Does anybody know how I can permanently tell Visio to print just the page I'm viewing, and not print off the whole flippin' massive-all-the-pages on the colour printer next to the MD's office please?!
I know, I know, I should Ctrl+P, say print current page, and off I go, but there's gotta be a setting somewhere, and I'm g'schmoigled if I can g'giggety it.
SCCM Event Log ID 12 Error - SMS Performance Data Provider
Hello,
Recently I have installed SCCM and constantly get this event id 12 error:
"Process C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services\SSRS\ReportServer\bin\ReportingServicesService.exe (PID 7200, TID 8968) called the CollectSMSPerformanceData() function in SMSPERF.DLL and the function detected that the virtual memory block containing the SMS performance data was not properly initialized. No performance data will be returned to the caller. If process C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services\SSRS\ReportServer\bin\ReportingServicesService.exe is a performance monitoring application, it may display incorrect data for the SMS performance counters or no data at all."
Do you know what a problem could be and how to fix it?
Thanks,
Tomas
Best monitors for photo editing?
There’s nothing worse than editing photos on one screen and then seeing them on a different display and the colors are off.
You want a monitor that not only provides precise, accurate colors right out of the box with broad coverage of industry color standards, but also offers crisp images and consistent color viewing at any angle.
What are some of the best monitors for photo editing? Your personal favorites?
The device cannot start code 10, tried updating, removing and reintalling
The device cannot start code 10, is what I am getting. I was able to find a driver and install it, but once the updates ran, it went right back to this error. I tried to search for a driver and it looked like it was going to work, but it spit out that code 10 error once again.
This is the device I wanted to correct.
This is on a Windows 10 (1803) Dell E6540 Laptop.
I also tried from the Windows driver packs, and it tells me that the best driver is already installed. That is fine, but the yellow triangle with the error message is what I need to correct. :-(
I downloaded the "ME_Corporate drivers" I installed and it looked as it should, but once Windows update ran, it went right back to what you see above.

Prepping for new DC - DCdiag errors - Sysvol FRS Member object (after DFSRmig)
Hello SysAdmins.
So I am preparing to add brand new DCs to our domain, decommission old ones and raise functionality level from 2008R2 to 2016. First step was migrating from FRS to DFSR, checked everything before migration, replication etc was fine. Migration was smooth and fast, checked GPO replication and it instantly replicates to every DC (5 currently across 3 sites). No errors. Another step was fixing sites setup (was full mesh, fixed to hub and spoke with failover full mesh), fixed that. Now I've run DCDIAG /v /q /e and fun started.
NCSecDesc which is known if You haven't run adprep /rodcprep so it can be ignored.
Two DCs are giving errors :
Problem: Missing Expected Value
Base Object:
CN=DC2 and DC3,OU=Test,OU=Domain Controllers,DC=contoso,DC=internal
Base Object Description: "DC Account Object"
Value Object...
Wildcard restore of database
I have a script I am currently using each day to restore a database provided by a vendor. The file name of the backup from the vendor is similar to 'My_Vendors_Data_FULL_20181024_230000.bak' which includes the date and time of the backup.
USE[master]GOALTERDATABASE[My_Vendors_Data]SETSINGLE_USERWITHROLLBACKIMMEDIATEGODECLARE@yesterdaydatenvarchar(8)=(SELECTFORMAT(GETDATE()-1,'yyyyMMdd')AS[YYYYMMDD])-- Yesterday's date for backupDECLARE@backupnvarchar(200)='\\myserver\My_Vendors_Data_FULL_'+@yesterdaydate+'_230000.bak'RESTOREDATABASE[My_Vendors_Data]FROMDISK=@backupWITHRECOVERY,REPLACE,STATS=10;GO
Typically, the time format in the file name is ' 230000' for 11:00 PM. However, on occasion the time is ' 230001' or '230002'. This will cause a failure because there is no filename that...
Due to send answers to tickets
Dear community, I currently use the help desk tool in the cloud and I have two domains configured, from where I can receive tickets and that works well, the problem is that when you answer the received tickets you are only received by the users of one of the domains on the other do not receive the answers, to which this inconvenience may be due?
I appreciate the help.

Spiceworks device inventory APPLE no names
I am deploying the Spiceworks Agent Shell cloud inventory. It has worked great for the PC's in my college however, the MAC's suck. The agent installs but will not send back the name of the mac. The name is how we identify the machine for who owns it. Anyone know anything that will help?
duplicate DNS entries with Cisco ASA VPN and Windows DHCP server
I'm on a 3 month staff augmentation contract at a client helping them catch up and get some lingering projects knocked out. One issue we're having here is that when clients connect through their cisco vpn client to the cisco asa5515x, we get duplicate dns entries. the asa is doing a dhcp relay through to the windows server where the devices get an address in a separate subnet. The trouble is that we'll get many duplicate dns entries in that subnet from people connecting and disconnecting. one of the core application servers here requires a valid dns lookup both ways as part of its authentication.
I can see that the unique ID that the asa is providing for each device is unique, but, if I understand correctly, the asa will provide a unique id for every dhcp request, rather than keeping that unique id tied to the mac address of the client,...
Exchange Server - Raid 10 - Hot swapped all drives with bigger drives
Hi all,
We are drastically run out of space on our exchange server on the mailbox store. The mailbox store is raid 10 so under the instructions of a friend I hot swapped all the drives for bigger ones, one at a time. The HP Array configuration utility is now showing that all the drives are the new bigger size and also that I have 570GB unused space on that SAS ARRAY, however this free space does not show up in disk management so I can not extend the volume.
Can I actually assign the free space in that array to the RAID 10 that is already there? I was originally going to rip and replace but was told this way would be easier and less likely to rail than a rip and replace. I already have all the log files on a different disk to free up as much room as possible.
My other option is to potentially move the database to a external hard drive and...
IoT is Being Abused, Here's How to Stop it
By the end of 2017, over 29 million homes in the US had some form of smart technology, and that number was growing at around 31% a year, according to a report from McKinsey. Devices like the Ring and Nest Thermostat help homeowners supervise their homes, often while they are away and are two of the most popular devices on the market today.
While these internet-connected devices and others such as the Amazon Echo and Google Home provide a level of control and convenience, they also come with a potential dark side: they can be used to harass, abuse and intimidate others.
This week we will look at some of the methods which use IoT in nefarious ways and how people can stop it.
The Risk
Men install most digital devices. But not just any man, but partners who bring these devices into the homes with good intentions and promises of convenience and...
New Systemd Vulnerability: Does the D stand for "disheartening"?
A security bug in Systemd can be exploited over the network to, at best, potentially crash a vulnerable Linux machine, or, at worst, execute malicious code on the box.
The flaw therefore puts Systemd-powered Linux computers – specifically those using systemd-networkd – at risk of remote hijacking: maliciously crafted DHCPv6 packets can try to exploit the programming cockup and arbitrarily change parts of memory in vulnerable systems, leading to potential code execution. This code could install malware, spyware, and other nasties, if successful.
The vulnerability – which was made public this week – sits within the written-from-scratch DHCPv6 client of the open-source Systemd management suite, which is built into various flavors of Linux.
This client is activated automatically if IPv6 support is enabled, and relevant packets arrive for...
Video Conferencing Horror Stories?

It's officially that spooky time of the season again!
However, we know some of these thrills and chills can happen anytime of the year and more specifically, when we are on video or supporting video conferencing, the probability for horror can be high.
So as more of a fun post and to get a conversation going, what have been some of your video conferencing horror stories? Have you ever had problems supporting video or had users complain about quality or calls dropping? What was your first VC setup like and how has it since improved?
I'll never forget being new at a job and introducing a colleague over video and found myself constantly repeating myself with no reply from the other end...it turns out I was on mute. Smart.
