After the recent chrome update some of our computers are displaying errors when opening certain websites that use (or were using) invalidated symantec certificates. The webpages are showing NET::ERR_CERT_SYMANTEC_LEGACY error. The strange thing is, other computers with the same version of chrome are opening those websites just fine. Is there perhaps some sort of certificate cache on chrome that can be cleared or something similar?

SFTP HIPAA EMAIL retrieval notification
I'm looking for new an SFTP server and must be HIPAA compliant. Also needs to have a feature to notify when new files are received to a given email address. No luck with Google, so...? Any suggestions?
PS, Windows is a great, secure OS so preferably something like *nix.
Skykick/CDW migration. Credential Validation for Office 365 Mailbox Fail
It seems a number of our users fail the Outlook Assistant credential validation after they login and the migration tool runs.
We have had a few users who are on Windows 7 machines work, but there are also other users with Windows 7 that aren't able to validate.
CDW is not sure how to fix this except to contact every user and get their login password, then manually entering it on the Skykick web portal.
Has anyone else had this experience working with a migration tool?
Using spiceworks and outsourced IT
Hi all,
So I've been looking for some documentation on this and have not been able to find anything.. We outsource most of our IT but we still have a small team to deal with issues that don't make sense for us to outsource. We decided to start using Spiceworks so we can keep our team a little more organized but I am wondering what the best practice is for our situation. We want our users to send in tickets to spiceworks but a majority of those will be passed on to our outsourcing company. How would we flag those tickets as in progress even if it's not assigned to anyone on our team and make sure communication gets logged between spiceworks and our outsourcing company without having a bunch of duplicated tickets popping up? Any suggestions or how to's would be greatly appreciated!
Midwest meetup
Hello everyone!
Saturday, January 26th 2019, a bunch of the SpiceCorps in the area are teaming up with CCB for the first ever Midwest Meetup! We'll have a bunch of great presentations from SpiceHeads, SpiceLeaders, and vendors. We even have 2 Spiceworkers attending - Francois (Product Management) and Sean (Community Director) - to talk about the future of Spiceworks and answer questions you all may have. Since this is much bigger scale than regular SpiceCorps meetups, registration is required at $20/person. Snacks and sodas will be provided in the afternoon, and dinner and drinks in the evening, plus plenty of swag! If you'd like to attend, make sure you register via the Eventbrite link in the meeting description: https://community.spiceworks.com/meeting/show/2847

Active Directory with Remote Devices
I have an environment with Office 365 with AD FS.
On-premise clients can connect fine as they connect via the DC on-site, a number of remote sites have no VPN capability to the main site however and as such are unable to connect to the DC (so they'll last 30 days, be unable to change their password, etc).
DirectAccess seems like a workaround however, this is Win 10 enterprise only, so not a viable solution. I was hoping the Hybrid Azure AD join for AD FS device management would have been a solution but unfortunately not.
Short of installing some other VPN solution, is there anything obvious I'm missing?

Power for temporary classroom set up
We have training in our meeting room two or three times a year. This time, I was just asked to be available to get the speaker set up with the projector. That went fine and then I was asked if they could have power for their laptops. Well, this building was built in the 70s and there is not a lot of options in this room plus it was full of people and the presentation was scheduled to start in a few minutes. I said it would be too disruptive for me to try to piece together power right then. But it got me thinking that there should be some kind of power distribution system available that would make this easy to set up. Like an extension cord with a plug every 6 feet or so. Anybody know of something like this?
Is Slack secure?
Slack is now the most popular and fastest growing instant messaging system for business, with 100% ARR growth and more than 70% market share. For many organizations, it's replaced email for project collaboration, both internally and with their clients, partners, and customers. Like a fairly large chunk of the working population, we love Slack for project management.
But what most members don’t know is that by default, Slack offers no native malware or data filtering protection. They're responsible for purchasing, then configuring those security tools. From there, organizations act on how their company standards for security and compliance align with what is practiced in Slack.
So, what could go wrong?- Although Slack is invite-only, ample user privileges and support for hundreds of apps naturally create risk. In shared channels, two...
Hyper Visor Virtual Switch
Hi All,
I have 10 Hyper Visor Virtual Servers running on a Hyper V on Prem. I am attempting to connect a shared (non network) printer from an on Premises windows 10 machine to one of the servers, however when I browse for the computer from the server I am unable to connect or find it. I can connect from any on premises machine up to the servers and indeed between the servers themselves, shared folders etc, but I am unable to connect from any server down to a on prem machine, the traffic seems to be one way. The only exception is the Domain Controller server. All servers, machines are connected to the same domain. Seems a bit strange but maybe I am missing something very obvious.
Thanks
Niall
Audit configuration changes and send them to an ELK
Hi,
I would like to validate a project I want to do. Currently I have the CUCM 8 software.
And I would like to audit certain events such as the configuration changes of each phone and changes in the lines configuration.
I understand that the logs belonging to the operating system itself can be sent using RSYSLOG, but those are not the events that I need.
On the other hand, I would like to send such events to a storage system
of logs such as the ELK cluster.
My doubts are:
Where can I activate this audit?
What kind of export do these logs support?
Is there any automation that these events to be exported every x time?.
Thanks!.
Sync Exchange on premise calendar to o365 calendar after hybrid connection
I have an exchange on-premise and o365 mailboxes. I managed to set up a hybrid connection between the two but the goal was to sync my outlook on-premise calender with my o365 calender for recipients.
so that when a meeting is booked and a recipient is invited in o365 Teams, the meeting will also pop up in outlook on-premise calendar.
Any working suggestion will be appreciated.
Shout Out and Thank You!
Just a note to give credit where credit is due. I am the IT Manager for a non-profit, and recently I needed help/advice on which route to take to upgrade our organization from an archaic Nortel Meridian PBX system to a more modern VOIP system. Phil was absolutely instrumental is getting us where we need to be. He listened to my needs, answered my plethora of questions, and made a recommendation that is a perfect fit for what we need. I honestly can't say enough about the help that Phil gave me, and we are up and running with new phones and capabilities! If you are looking for help with VOIP, CommQuotes has your back! Thanks so much Phil!
Why should you consider a hybrid cloud?
Hybrid cloud combines on-and off-premises services and has the following benefits:
- Modern and Efficient
Today, more than two-thirds of enterprises prefer a hybrid cloud approach for improved operations and greater productivity. - Cloud Data Center
Leverage virtualization to prep for software-defined infrastructure (SDI) and management of pooled data center resources across compute, network, and storage. - Mature
Get scaled and secure environments for cloud-aware apps or legacy IT operations in public and on-premises clouds. - Unified and Open

Can't Install Windows 10 on Hyper-V
Good morning!
I'm currently in the process of trying to build 3 images in Hyper-V that will be used for deployment to new computers. While these new images have been built before, I need to rebuild them for the latest feature update that will arrive soon. I'd much rather have a script build them for me rather than spend time building them myself.
The script is below:
Invoke-Command-ComputerNametest-environment-scriptblock{$VMs="Test Image"foreach($VMin$VMs){$vmdetails=Get-VM-Name$VMif($vmdetails.state-eq'Running'){Stop-VM-Name$VM-TurnOff-Force-Verbose}Remove-VM-Name$VM-Force-verboseif($VM-eq"Test Image"){Remove-Item-Path"E:\Test Image"-Recurse-ForceNew-VM-Name$VM-Path"E:\"-MemoryStartupBytes16GB-NewVHDPath"E:\Test Image\Virtual Hard Disks\Test Image.vhdx"-Generation2...
Word Documents Reference Original Template
Hey yalls...
So, something kind of funky. Work has centralized location for company templates.
The issue I am noticing is that, any Word document generated from such template calls or references the original template.
When Word launches after double clicking the word document... You can see \\FILESERVER\LOCATION\TEMPLATE being called in the splash screen.
I noticed this when I emailed myself a word document to troubleshoot something. I emailed it to my personal email and opened it at home. I tested this on my personal laptop and same thing as well.
Is there a way to disable this? Or can anyone point me to a good MS article explaining this?
Office 365 Professional Plus license from Office365.
Thanks.
During past x amount of hours 37 connections to this domain controller?
Hey friends,
I am trying to troubleshoot the cause of one of my domain controllers (vmware virtual server servers) shutting down last night and while looking through the System log in the event viewer I spotted something that I am trying to determine how concerned I should be about it. The first sentence concerns me the most because I am not sure if it's an issue or not. So at that location we do have users from other office go there and log in so they should be hitting that domain controller any way.
Also, in Computer Management, Under shared folders I looked at the "sessions" folder and can see a mix of computer authenticated that are local to that site and also some from other other sites, I am thinking those are visitors to the office?
Below is from the System log in the even viewer.
During the past 4.21 hours there have been 60...
