My folder redirection worked flawless for a while but the server crapped out. My old root path let say \\server\docs and the new path is \\server\docs$ ($ sign to hide the folder). Windows 7 users can see all shared folders and the old shared path when they go to \\server, XP users cannot see any of the shared folder but can view the old shared path. I don't want the old shared path to show.
When I disabled offline via GPO the dilemma occurs, all files from the new path are deleted (fortunately I have back up copies seating on a different server) but removing the GPO restore the files.
How do I use the new path, delete the old path and to not show on the when user go to \\server. I'm running server 2008 R2 and attached the GPO for folder redirection and disable offline. Thanks for any feedback.
