We are having a problem with numerous staff, where they open an excel or word file, and the program goes not responding, sometimes it lasts 5-20 seconds, but other times it takes more than 5 minutes to come good. It doesn't happen every time, but often enough that I have several open tickets regarding the problem.
It can happen to files on network share or local files.
I have had the users make sure the files are saved as xlsx instead of xls.
I have tried disabling the antivirus (Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1), no difference.
All running 64 bit win 7, and 32 bit Office 2010, with no office addons, this did not happen on 32bit XP, with Office 2010.
I can see from different forums that many people have had this issue, but none seem to have a resolution. Has anyone overcome this problem?
