Spiceworks with multiple teams

Is it possible to have Spiceworks work with multiple email account but without the need to assign to a specific user?

My scenario is as follows: we have 5 different teams who do support on different areas.

In each team we have several team members, in our current support system each team has it's own support email to which requests are being sent, then one of the team members will assign the ticket to him self, after the ticket is assigned that team member will handle the ticket until it resolved.

In some rare cases there are cross team systems so one team will transfer the ticked to another team.

The solution I've found until now is to have a user for for each team and rules based on incoming alias, this solution is problematic because we need to be able to track the tickets on a team level but still to be able to assign the tickets to a...

External Attacker locking out a user on a domain

Hey all,

For a while now, we have been having an external attacker who is somehow focusing on a singular user account to try and break in; due to this, the account keeps being locked out once every so often when the "attack" occurs. We have tried using rdpguard to block the IP of the offender though this isn't doing anything. So, what can we do?

Correct IP Presentation

I know the topic might be a bit off but I have a bit of an issue/discussion with a colleague. We have several PC's connected to a single WAN IP. That is that I get shown the same IP when I go to sites such as myip.com etc, so my assumption is that they share a public/outside IP is that correct?.

We have gotten a request from a company that we are going to work with, that needs to "clear" computers to connect to their web platform, that is, they need the public IP addresses for the computers and devices that need to connect to the platform. And I have given them the IP that I found in the first paragraph.

The problem is that it doesn't work. The connection times out etc, and my thought on the matter is that it is the other company that have an issue/problem, while my colleague thinks I am doing this the wrong way and that the IP I found...

Using ImapX to connect to an Exchange server using Powershell

Hello,

I would like to connect to my Exchange server with IMAP4, in Powershell.

I have found that ImapX 2 could help me to do this (http://imapx.org/)

I have downloaded the package, read the documentation and another article on StackOverflow on how to connect to Exchange with ImapX and Powershell (https://stackoverflow.com/questions/9959668/get-email-using-powershell)

I have write a script just to test if I am able to connect to my Exchange server:

Powershell

We want to make sure the same domain lockout policies apply to local administrator accounts on servers and desktops. Is this the case, or do they have their own policies?

Monitor versus TV for display

One of our managers asked me to put in a 32" TV instead of the monitor that we were going to install.

Other than connectivity (his system supports HMDI and DisplayPort, so non-issue), is there any particular reason why one option is better or worse than the other?

Or does it even matter?

Getting a bad blacK Screen Of Death

I think I have to replace the motherboard, but wanted to see if anyone had suggestions I haven't tried yet...

HP Pavilion G-Series Notebook

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium

RAM: 4GB

BIOS: F.48

So, someone spilled tea (no sweetener) onto 2 laptops.

One is fine, so I have been using it to troubleshoot the other.

I finally tried swapping out the SSD with the good laptop's. The bad one booted right up on the good laptop, so it's not the disk.

On the bad, regardless of the disk I use: After trying to repair startup with a repair disk and a repair usb, it always hits the Windows logo, then black screen with non-functional blinking cursor. Can't boot from any of the Advanced Startup Options (F8)

TRIED:

- Dismantling / cleaning / drying / blowing

- Took out battery, held down power button 60+ sec.

- Reset CMOS, pulled out,...

CyberPower RMCARD205 local account

I have several CyberPower UPS units with the RMCARD 205 installed in them. I've been going around changing their default settings to match them up to our environment and all is going well until I change anything about the local login itself.

It doesn't matter if I only change the username, only change the password, or change both at the same time. The end result is always me being locked out of the web management. Has anyone run into this? Is there a trick to changing the local account away from just being admin/admin without locking yourself out?

Exchange DAG Quorum Question

Hello,

So I'm in the process of setting up a DAG at my company which is a bit behind in getting these things together. We're not particularly large so I'm looking at two Exchange servers & a witness server. With that in mind, one exchange server is on prem and the other is in the cloud as will the witness server.

My question is, if, somehow, we were to lose internet connectivity from our office, how would the server in the office know that it is to suspend its databases. Is only the server with the witness going to activate DB copies and the one that no longer can talk to the rest of the quorum going to suspend its copies or is this something that must be done manually in this situation? If the cloud environment, on the other hand, loses connectivity or power, how would the on-prem server know this? Would the DB's suspend and I manually...

Server 2008 Slow at Same Time Every Day

In our datacenter, we still have one Server 2008 (not R2) server that is a terminal server and runs a proprietary piece of software. Every day around 3pm, it gets so slow that nobody can use it. I kick off users, but it does not speed up. Rebooting it is the only thing that works.

The only error in the logs around 3pm is GP Client Service has terminated unexpectedly. The performance monitor shows nothing major. I ran chkdsk /r last night and there were quite a few errors that it repaired, but it still did the same thing at 3pm today. I had our proprietary software vendor take a look at the internal logs for the software and she said there is nothing there.

I am at a loss where to go next. I feel like if it was a hardware issue, it would not happen at the same time every day. Could it be a bad user profile? Maybe a user is logging on...

Snap! Password manager OneLogin hacked, WikiLeaks leaks stolen CIA hacking tool

A daily dose of today's top news, in brief.

You need to hear this.

Password manager OneLogin is hacked, leaving customer data exposed

The password manager OneLogin today announced it had been hacked and its customer data had been exposed. In a blog post, the company said it had "detected unauthorized access to OneLogin data in our US data region," and had blocked it as soon as it was able to do so.

"The blog post had no further information or technical details about the incident -- though the post omitted that hackers had stolen sensitive customer data, which was only cursorily mentioned in an email to customers," ZDNet reports. In that email, OneLogin said it believed hackers had decrypted customer data and warned that data was likely compromised.

"The company has advised customers to change their passwords, generate new API keys for...

Setting page is blank after updating to latest version

I recently updated to the latest version (7.5.00101) and after doing so, the settings page is blank. It loads the text that says the Copyright and version number but that's it. I have tried restarting the service but that didn't help. I came across this post that mentions database corruption and that Spiceworks Support helped them fix it, I am thinking it's a similar issue.

AMD Server replacement to Microsoft to reduce core count

Hello,

Our servers are about 5 years old and nearing replacement age. I was hoping to replace them with lower core count machine so as to spend less on the new (relatively) MSFT core based licensing.

Can someone guide me on what would be a replacement for

4 socket AMD Opteron 6272 2.1 GHz 16 Turbo CORE, 16M L2/16M L3, 1600Mhz Max Mem

From what I understand AMD's do not have "real" core since they lack the floating point calculation engine.

I would prefer to replace it with a 2 socket 32 core Intel system.
