Cisco SBL - Alternative?

Hi,

I'm having some trouble with a client of mine where I manage everything IT related except the network their VOIP provider manages that. It's a small/medium sized business with around 25 workstations but the VOIP provider insisted on everything in the network being Cisco made...
For some reason the client agreed with an insane investment but that's something for another day.

With the Coronavirus running rampant the VOIP provider finally decided to get the VPN services up and running on the Cisco modem (after 9 months of nagging). However this all is about as stable as a newly born three legged puppy... They also noted that the only way to get this VPN working was to use Cisco Any Connect (built-in Windows VPN cannot seem to connect to the Cisco VPN service), which really isn't an issue but they say it's not possible to get the VPN to...

Why is a local user account authenticating to domain servers

Hello! I am trying to figure out and explain this odd behavior and its driving me nuts!!

TLDR at the bottom

Scenario:

A user is working from home on his personal computer and he logs in with a local account (let's call it "myaccount") and he opens up Cisco AnyConnect and VPNs into the corporate network using the DOMAIN account (Company\companyaccount).

I am seeing successful authentication event IDs 4624 from the DC for companyaccount, however I am also seeing UNSUCCESSFUL event IDs 4625 for his local account "myaccount" what could possibly be happening in the background and how can I stop this from happening? It is triggering multiple 4625 events for "myaccount" whenever this user logs in with his companyaccount.

TLDR: user logs into his local account, user connects to company network via domain account. See both users authenticating from...

DDoS attack on German food delivery service

Lieferando, a German food delivery service that works with roughly 15,000 restaurants, was slowed down by a DDoS attack yesterday.

According to BleepingComputer:

"...the German branch of the company announced that its systems had been attacked and entered in maintenance mode 'to ensure the security of all data.' This could cause delays in order processing.

Some customers complained that the service accepted new orders, despite its systems being crippled by the attack, and they are not being processed."

Lieferando said they will refund any paid orders that were never delivered.

Peplink Balance 310 home and office IP network routing conflict?

$

Remote workers have home addresses on 192.168.1.x as most people don't think about changing the default. Office network uses same range as it was built 14 years ago and there was no thought that there would ever be remote workers in this tiny business.

MSP installed a Peplink Balance 310 because we wanted something that could easily handle a wireless failover in the future since the office is a bit rural and internet service can be unpredictable (Comcast). They created a PPTP VPN client configuration but it gets DHCP from the internal Windows server on the same network.

Problem is that VPN clients can't map drive shares (error 53) on the server. Some pings work, but we think the conflicting address ranges are confusing the system. We've used paths like \\server01.xyz.local\data and even just \\server01\data from VPN clients coming from...

Since I'm pretty sure our great governor is going to mandate the cessation of social interaction, I wanted to start a thread where we can have a virtual SpiceCorps meeting and discuss all things quarantine.

As a professional Zombie Outbreak Specialist, Personally I came out fine. Lots of TP, canned food, Ammo, Gallons of hand sanitizer (we refill the little bottles to save the environment), and I always have 3-4 cases of water. I had picked up some extra supplies like 3-month Rx Refills, and 200Lbs of Bassglehund food when we first caught wind of the China lockdown. We could survive on dog food if we had to....

The office was more of a tooth-pulling exercise. I did a little unauthorized per-emptive planning and deployed a SurveyMonkey firm wide to gather data on everyone's home computer situations. I also got some rental laptop quotes...

Setup is

Local:  192.168.1.0/24 pfSense Open VPN Server at 192.168.1.1

Remote:  192.168.9.0/24 pfSense Open VPN Client at 192.168.9.1
WAN port on Remote pfSense getting DHCP from network that I don't control 10.2.1.1/24
There's a time clock at 10.2.1.100 that I need to access from from a 192.168.1.8

I added 10.2.1.0/24 to the remote networks in the OpenVPN Server config.  I can ping 10.2.1.100 from the local pfSense, but I can't ping the Server from a computer on the local LAN.   I've got  rules defined on OpenVPN interface to allow all to LAN and rules on LAN to allow all from OpenVPN but still only able to ping from local pfSense.

Any Ideads?

Exchange 2k7 Staged Migration to Office 365 MapiExceptionUnknownUser

I'm currently working on migrating our exchange 2007 mailboxes to office 365. I've created some migration endpoints to move a select few mailboxes to the cloud according to the following guide from Microsoft:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/mailbox-migration/perform-a-staged-migration/perform-a-sta...

Everything has worked great. I create the endpoint, start the batch and a mailbox is successfully synced to O365 and has a status of synced.

However when I change the on premise mailbox to a Mail enabled user using the provided power shell scripts, the status of the batch migration shortly switches to failed. Presumably because the mailbox is disconnected from the on premise exchange when its converted to a mail enabled user. The error I receive is MapiExceptionUnknownUser

The mailbox on office 365 works and all mail flow works on...

GoToRoom Equipment

Anyone have experience with GoToRoom? We are considering them for our primary conference room. We already use GoToMeeting, so it just seems logical to stick with the single vendor.

My question relates to the 2 available hardware options: the "GoToRoom Kit" by Poly, and a newer "Dolby Voice Room" kit. The price difference is substantial, but not a show-stopper: $2400 and $3400, respectively. Has anyone used either of these, or perhaps customized their own solution for video-conferencing? I'm also open to other platforms, but prefer to stick with GoTo unless there is a big enough reason to change. TIA!

How long can you support a remote workforce?

As COVID-19 ramps up and more and more offices are moving to a remote work environment for the forseeable future, many companies are coming to terms with the fact that this remote work situation seems indefinite. Personally, I am set up well for a remote work position - I don't have to worry about compliance issues, most of my work is done online, and I already have a couple of monitors at home so I just had one or two things to take home to support my workflow.

But, many companies are scrambling to figure out how to make sure their employees are set up to be as productive as possible (and minimize headaches for IT, hopefully). For those of you that have had to rush to get a remote workflow, how long do you think you'll be able to support it? Do you think it'll be an issue if you have to support this for the next few months?

Start-Process on remote system not finding the files

Hello

I have a script where I am trying to install on remote systems. I'm using the foreach($computer..........)

I sucessfully copy the necessary files to the remote system in the correct place (C:\Temp\Office) and all files show up where expected.

I create a session to the remote computer and use the start-process to run the setup. But it keeps telling me it cant run because it cannot find the file specified. I have double/triple checked the path it is trying to run the file from and it is correct and the file exists.

Im using Invoke-command -session $sess to get access to the comp for running the setup.

Weird Outlook Viral Banner Message / malicious web page

Hi all. Have a user with fully patched Outlook 2016 connected to Office 365/Exchange. Today a yellow banner displayed across the top as follows: (also see attachment)

"Check your connection To get new email, use your browser to sign in to CET52601". then next to that an Open Browser button, That button then loads a page about the Coronavirus with a download that is obviously malichous. The URL shows up as:msftconnecttest\redirect The Intenet stays conencted the whole time.

The banner displayed in the same area that a problem with the Microsoft subscription would normally appear. I disabled macros and checked for extra add-ins and it still pops up. CET52601 is the name of her WiFi network. The user is working from home.

Any ideas what's been compromised here? I'm thinking it might be a normal Outlook message when a portal has to be used...

For those looking to play (it's FREE), make sure you hop onto SHIP 2 (UR) so we can ensure we will all be able to play together. I plan on having no life for the foreseeable future outside of PSO2, so you shouldn't have any issues finding me there if you're looking for somebody to play with.

How do you manage a large number of VPN users?

$

And by large I'm talking 15-ish for me, but large, in general. I had five users with VPN access and now, of course, I have another 10 to add.

I'm running OpenVPN on a pfSense firewall. It works fine, but as of now I have to add each user in the user manager and tell it to create a certificate for each user.

Then I have to go to OpenVPN and export each client configuration and send it to the user.

If I had hundreds, or even just dozens, of these, I'd go nuts. If I didn't care about being able to see who, specifically, was connected I could just give out one config and let it go. But I'd like to know who's who. How to you implement VPN for lots of users?

No computers on the company network can reach the login page for Go To Webinar

If I'm off our network, I can reach the website without any problem. Any computer in our building right now cannot get to Go To Webinar's sign in page (everything else is apparently just peachy!) and, given the issues my country is facing right now...What a time for it to go down!

  • I can ping the IP address from the server and the terminals
  • I tried ipconfig /flushdns, tnbtstat -R, and nbtstat -RR on the server and terminal
  • I flushed the DNS and backup DNS on the server
  • I performed an nslookup for " https://www.gotomeeting.com/webinar/sign-in" (or 68.64.14.192 )and it resulted in a non-existent domain error
  • I switched my DNS to both Google's AND Open DNS's DNS addresses then cleared the DNS caches on the server and flushed the DNS on my computer - nothing

There's no sign of the website being blocked by the firewall...I have to be...
