I've got a new spiceworks install all set up and have been trying to get my scan errors down to < 0.
One of my errors comes from an XP Home station where the spiceworks agent is installed.
Initially I just ignored the error, deleted the "Authentication failed because no Windows account was specified" inventory device and installed the agent and that seemed to do the trick but the error and unknown device keep showing back up as a duplicate. Is there a way to tell the network scan that the device is already in inventory? What's the proper way to reconcile this?
/me mumbles grumbles about the companies policy on avoiding XP Home
Also we have an as400 that keeps showing up as "No open ports for this device were found to be responding." I presume because of the Windows NetServer share service. Ignoring this error only clears it until the next scan. Is there a way for this to still work with the system and not remove it from future scans? I like that spiceworks tells me when the device is down and don't want to exclude it if that means I can't track it's status.. I have a similar, although not as important, concern with miscellaneous devices, I've got a few other devices, which aren't servers/workstations, showing up as Unknowns. They are just various devices: i.e. timeclock, postage machine, credit card machines etc... How do I avoid these errors and properly classify them.
