Tough time picking room for new server room with enough cooling.

I have a building that is roughly 25k sq. feet. I do rent so I have some offices rented and have to take them into consideration when building a new server room - noise, server hum, heat, etc. The electrical panel is right inside the side entrance conveniently located by a 20x20 room that would make an excellent server room, it has an outside wall and it is away from any renters. There is even a huge ugly green power thing on the outside of that office that would make hiding a few window air conditioners really easy.

Unfortunately that puts me at the far end of the building and I will be over the Cat5 limit and won't be able to reach the outer offices (there are about 24 offices just in this middle part of the building). Also, on the north side of this office there are about 30 more offices (8500sq ft) that will also need to be cabled...

Update BIOS via SDM/SSM?

Is this possible?

Even though SSM has an option to enter a BIOS password, whenever I download softpaqs via SDM, the BIOS files always show as "download only" manual install.  They never show up as SSM compliant auto installable.

I checked models from 800 G1 and 650 G1 through 1040 G3 and I see the same thing.

Is there a workaround to deploy BIOS updates via SSM and will it automatically suspend Bitlocker so we don't have to do bitlocker recovery after BIOS updates?

If not, I'll need an alternate method to automate deploying BIOS updates only to systems with out of date versions of the BIOS.

Sorry for these newbie questions but I am new to Powershell.

1.) How do I find out my current Powershell version (under 64bit Win 7)?

2.) What is the newest PowerShell version and how do I download it (not through MS update channel)?

3.) Do PowerShell script files have a certain file extension which (when double clicked) will be executed automatically (similar to traditional *.bat files)?

4.) If I start powershell from START menu a certain start path is shown.

Is there a way to adjust this path to another directory? (or even better automatically to the last used)?

Does Domain authority of website depends on the back-link or on the traffic?

we have same domain authority and page authority as our competitors have but there is a huge difference in getting the traffic or visitors. Can we relate higher DA authority means getting higher traffic?? As per i know DA and PA depends on the back-linking not on the visitors. Please correct me if i am wrong. Our authority is increasing frequently but not the traffic.

Update a report doesn't work

I have updated a number of the reports (created myself) but it does not seem to updating the report list screen yet if you go to the report itself and click edit the updated information is there.  Any ideas how i can get it to change on the report list?

is it possible to run a report to see how many tickets we get logged after 4pm?

doesn't need a date range it can go from when time began for all i care as long as it has timestamps

Virtual Machines activation on MS 2012 Standard R2

Hello, I am quite confused about the VM activation on Hyper -V.

I am using a licensed MS 2012 R2 Standard edition. I have created 2 VMs on this Host. Both VMs are running MS 2012 R2 standard.

My question is that how can I activate both VMs. Do I need to buy additional licenses for VM clients or host will automatic activate the VMs. As Microsoft provides virtualization rights for 2 VMs on standard R2.

As for now, I have entered the same key on the both VMs that I already used on the physical host. Will it count the license key as 1 or 3. 

What is the virualization right means?

SQLITE_DB_POOL setting no longer seems to work

Hi,

SQLITE_DB_POOL setting no longer seems to work.

We have created the system variable  SQLITE_DB_POOL with a value of 160 and rebooted the server yet production log reports "The max pool size is currently 40; consider increasing it"

The server is running Windows Server 2012R2 with 16GB RAM (3GB in use)  and primary role is to run Spiceworks with many remote collectors.

The full error was "I[00:00:05.43 8eb6d0] Something went wrong in scheduled job group scan (resources) (30) for collector PES-62WB2: ActiveRecord::ConnectionTimeoutError: could not obtain a database connection within 2 seconds. The max pool size is currently 40; consider increasing it."

We are on Spiceworks Version 7.5.00101

What have I missed?

Automation Of Disabled Users Assistance

Hey guys,

I have only just recently been learning power-shell and scripting and I have an idea I would like to implement but my scripting skill set is not at the level it needs to be.

Idea:
I would like to auto mate the following process:

1. Add user to a MEMBER GROUP called "Disabled Users"

2. A script will run at 10:00pm and look for all users in "Disabled Users"

3. When script runs it will scan the profile and pull the users attributes like phone numbers, members groups, profile path and will put it into an xml or text document and save it into a location

4. It will then grab the user profile and place it into a "Disabled Users" folder somewhere on the directory

5. It will then strip the users Members and all information and then disable the account

6. It will then scan for any users in the disabled users group and any users that have been...

Cannnot turn on Windows 10 Cortana voice

Hi y'all!

I recently (a year ago) upgrade my HP Notebook to windows 10.

I am not from the USA, but in settings I set my Location to USA, and my default language to English.

The Cortana tool is showing up fine on the toolbar, and when I'm online I can get suggestion from her etc. All in all it seems to work fine.

Except that I cannot voice activate her, and when I try to slide the voice on it just turns back off immediately when I lift my mouse from the slider.

Cortana>Settings>Language is empty. I click on it and a thin empty black bar shows underneath, instead of showing a list of languages. If I click on the black bar I get a message: The language you chose does not match Cortana's setting - or something like that.

What is wrong and how do I fix it?

I can’t believe that it’s been just over a week since we were all together at All Access!

Firstly, I’d just like to say again a massive thank you to everyone for coming, and especially those who took the time and effort to participate by running one of the sessions.

We’re still gathering feedback from attendees, sponsors, as well as the team here at Spiceworks, but I think it’s fair to say at this point that All Access was a resounding success all round. We recognise that a huge part of that is down to you all for your guidance and the excellent content on the day that clearly resonated. We couldn’t have done it without you!

DHCP server ipv6 - error and setup query (9009 error) Event ID 20328

Hello all,

Setup is 3 DCs running 2016 server on a LAN. DC1 runs DHCP server and its IPv4 settings on the NIC have the other 2 DCs as DNS servers. The other 2 DCs are setup in the same way. That is

DC1 - 192.168.0.1
DC2 - 192.168.0.2
DC3 - 192.168.0.3

DC1 has DNS servers of .2 and .3
DC2 has DNS servers of .1 and .3
DC3 has DNS servers of .2 and .1

On DC1, IPv6 it has a static address and preferred DNS server is ::1. My query is do I setup IPv6 the same way as IPv4 - ie. give each other DC a static address and set the DNS to the other 2 DCs?

And onto the error - I noticed that the event log is filling up with DHCP errors like this:
PTR record registration for IPv6 address [[fdc3:233d:e792:7866:f998:c18c:133f:222d]] and FQDN SQL1.domain.co.uk failed with error 9009 (DNS server not authoritative for zone.) Event ID is 20328, which seems brand new...

Delete Active Directory Users and Data

Hi

I'm creating a script that will look in a specifik OU and delete all the disabled user accounts, the attached home folder and the also look if there is a folder starting with the "samaccountname" on a share and delete that to.
The first two parts of the script seems to be working just fine, removing the user account and the home folder attached to it.
The help i need is with the the part removing the folder on the share 
\\SETHNWS034\Profiles$\RDSHFarm01\"samaccountname.domain.v2"

Ahoj,

nevíte prosím někdo, jak by měla v českých podmínkách fungovat Společnost dvou OSVČ?

Chci k sobě přibrat učedníka - smlouva o Společnosti může být údajně nepsaná a vůči firmám vystupuje pouze jedna OSVČ - podíly si pak rozdělí. Daňové přiznání pak tedy já posílám pouze ze svého dílu a společník také, přestože on nevystaví žádnou fakturu?

ODBC 32/64 question

For a 64Bit installation of Windows using a 32-Bit installation of Microsoft Office, which ODBC setup would you use to connect to data sources?
1. Data source (ODBC)
2. C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe
3. C:\Windows\System32\odbcad32.exe
4. C:\\Windows\Sys\odbcad32.exe

This one caught me out, I was aware in the past that the 32bit program lived in the SysWOW64 folder but nowadays both seem to work (see screenshot below) and I just lazily type ODBC in the Cortana search window when I want to set a new connection up and the 32bit one just opens by default.

The linked answer article is from 2012 so I wondered is this no longer true with W10 x64? I don't know, but another failed question for me.

MDT OEM License Automation

Hey guys,

I would like to automate the process of my MDT deployment to pull the OEM license key from device and then apply it to windows, If OEM can not be applied, apply VLK. Here is what I have so far:
