VMWare Replication Authenication

I am setting up VMWare replication between our production and DR cluster. Right now our DR cluster is in our datacenter but is getting moved soon.

Both clusters are running ESX 6.5. Both have their replication appliances for source and target. I am able to replicate VMs to our DR cluster. 

The issue is every day on the production cluster I need to reconnect to the DR replication appliance, it says un-authenicated. I click reconnect, I have to type in the DR vcenter creds and everything is back up and running. But why must I keep reconnecting and typing in the DR vcenter creds? I don't lose any network connectivity between the sites, so I am not sure what is causing the issue.

3 phase in - 1 or 3 phase out ?

I have just been asked about this and to be frank i don't really know what the question is.

i have seen UPS that take a normal plug (1 phase)
i have also seen bigger units that take armored 1 or 3 phase in.

but i have never heard of 3 phase coming out of the UPS.

Website on IIS on AD

Bit of an odd one.  Trying to use AD with an internal website, but every time we access it it is prompting for credentials.  Is there a way to stop this?  We have Windows Authentication role installed.

Crystal Reports and local admin security problem

The problem:  Remove local admin rights from all users/workstations. [done]

The problem now:  Crystal Reports won't execute the ODBC connection to allow db access to a network db.  I can open the report, but it fails with user credentials.

RunAs Admin doesn't work.
RunAs local admin opens CR, but will no longer browse the network.

What am I missing here so I don't have to give back local admin rights to CR users.

* I do not have a CR server, each pc has a DB2 ODBC connection setup to access the db.

Having a /22 CIDR for my Trusted interface causes the firewall to go offline

We increased our address scope from /23 to a /22. I have updated all of our switches and access points to work on the new scope. But when I add /22 to my local interface on my Firebox M500, the firewall will become unreachable. The only way to revive it is to reset to defaults and reload the config. 

I contacted Watchguard about the issue and their response was that I should segment the network instead of making this change and closed my case. That actually kinda rubbed me the wrong way and I dont agree with their fix. This is in a school and having 1024 addresses doesnt seem to be a large scope, as we are only using a little over half. I would eventually like to segment the network, but we are in session here and will have to wait until next summer. I need the firewall to recognize all 1024 addresses right now...

Without giving the "correct" answer away, there are two possible choices here.  The "incorrect" correct answer is  Use the HTTP webUI to configure the switches, which you can do on current Cisco switches, like the sg500 for example.  VLANs can be configured on it without ever touching the CLI.

Subnets from Prefix

Hi guys, 

Might be a stupid question but how do you work out the subnet mask from the / prefix? 

I'm not sure if the subnet masks from the prefix is general knowledge or whether it is worked out.

AD DNS forwarding to external site

Using server 2012

I have a local domain 'mydomain.com'. There is also an external domain (website) of 'mydomain.com.

There is a single forward lookup zone for 'mydomain.com'.
I need to setup DNS so that I can enter in a web browser the address of help.mydomain.com and have it redirected to an external site of sitename.otherdomain.com/help.

I thought I could just add a C name of help.mydomain.com and have that resolve to sitename.otherdomain.com/help, but that does not seem to work.

How can I setup DNS on my local domain DNS server so that when I go to help.mydomain.com it will instead resolve to sitename.otherdomain.com/help?

I am no expert on  DNS......

Create an company google like search

Hi folks, so we are looking for a system to work with to try and create our own internal company google like search - where someone could bring up this one single search page, key in their question like 'how do I enter time off' or 'who do I contact to release an order' etc, where they can ask anything they like instead of having to remember which website/system to go to to look for an answer. We know we have to setup all the data/questions/responses and I believe systems like this are also called Knowledge Management Systems. We have FAQ's and other help info and documents spread across different intranet websites and systems and want to consolidate.

One we found so far was Microsoft's Employee Self Service which looks cool but looking for some other options (since we don't use Office 365 currently but may in the future).

Windows 10 network profiles

We are using Windows 10 ver 1607. Our users are having an issue connecting.The can connect, but they receive an error that there is no internet. I found some articles about the registry keys located in hklm\software\microsoft\windows nt\current version\networklist\profiles. Basically the network profiles are being set to public vs being set to domain. How do I prevent this from happening?

Hi experts i am using exchange hybrid environment, i want to pull this report for Office365 users, i am using the below script and it works fine but i want to add FirstName,LastName,Primary email address, Secondary email address, EmployeeID, Job Title, and OWA enabled or disabled to this script. How can I prevent users from changing macro security settings?

I have applied policies to disable office macros using the Office ADMX templates available. I have enabled the following under User Configuration for all Office products in our environment: Block macros from running in Office files from the Internet, VBA Macro Notification Settings - set to Disable without notification.

I've enabled the Disable VBA for Office Applications for all Office versions in our environment.

When I try to open a Macro-enabled spreadsheet I get an error that strips away the VBA so no macros are present anymore. I would have expected a bar to show at the top with a message stating macros were disabled and that they weren't allowed due to enterprise restrictions. I don't get that. I can also go in as the user and change these macro security settings and I need to prevent that. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank...

Incoming Messages Arrive in Exchange 2016 cu10 but not shown on Mailbox

Today we received no mail, logs seems to suggest mail being received, as per below, it's just not showing up in the mailbox if interpret correctly, we can connect to the mail server fine.

Were Running windows 2012R2 with Exchange 2016 cu10.

I'm not an Exchange person by any means, I'm completely baffled, the only thing I can think of is we had an update today, but maybe a red herring.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Remote Desktop Server 2016 Setup

Hi, 

I'm setting up a single Remote Desktop server on Windows Server 2016 for a new environment of about 15 users, 10 of which will need access to RDP. I'll also need to buy the Remote Desktop licenses.

In order to enable Remote Desktop on the server, is it just a matter of enabling it under Server Manager > Local Server > Remote Desktop?

Or do I need to also add the Remote Desktop Services role to the server? If I do, what roles are needed? It lists RD Connection Broker, Gateway, Licensing, Session Host, Virtualization Host, and Web Access.

The users will just need to use QuickBooks and access network files when remoting into the server.

Users NOT prompted file is already open by another user?

In my domain we have a relatively small file server running Server 2012 R2.

A few different users from the same department are complaining that when they open a few spreadsheets Excel will NOT notify them that someone already in it. To avoid work loss they will both have to waste time and Save As to combine work between files.

I've seen people recommend the checkbox to allow multiple users in the same file at the same time, but we do NOT want that checked. Every time someone opens a spreadsheet the next person's entries depend on the most up-to-date numbers possible.

I've heard of DFS flying around occasionally when researching this issue, but I don't know a lot about it. Is this something I could look into for a resolution?

Bar chart in crystal report.

Following is the graph I'm using in my report. It is being grouped by two categories "post" and "dos".

Each of the two categories displays monthly data. That's why there are 12 bars for each group.

I want to display months under each bar (highlighted portion).

How could I do that? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yellow exclamation triangle with no internet access not resolving

For internet my office has one CIR Broadband connection which by help of an application "CCPROXY" is further distributed to 10 static IPs to be used on 10 different PCs. All PCs are connected via CAT 5 Ethernet cable.

For this purpose only simple network switches are used meaning no smart/programmable switches are being used. So coming to the question, yellow triangle on little PC icon in taskbar is always there with apparently showing "no internet access" on all 10 computers except the proxy server.

Now internet is working fine on all devices and this issue never bothered anyone but in recent days hotspot was needed on one laptop (windows 10) to be working and it was showing error " your PC cannot turn on hotspot as no Ethernet, WiFi connection available" because of no internet access message. Laptop is HP envy 15 with windows 10 Home...
