External Domain unreachable from Exchange 2010

Hello Spiceworks,

I'm having some trouble with my onsite Exchange 2010 server. I received information from one of our users that they are unable to receive emails from a contact at Pelican. After taking a look at my Barracuda spam filter, I did indeed find that their emails were being flagged as dangerous. I have since added an exception to allow all emails through the @pelican.com domain. Unfortunately we are still experiencing issues. We are unable to send any emails to the @pelican.com domain. We receive an error which reads:

"The e-mail address you entered couldn't be found. Please check the recipient's e-mail address and try to resend the message. If the problem continues, please contact your helpdesk."

I have also added the IP address of the mentioned domain to our Exchange 2010 IP Allow List, but still unable to send to this...

Upgrading From Windows 7 to Windows 10 - Large Business

Hi Everyone,

Sorry if this is has already been discussed (I am sure it has somewhere, please provide links!)

As we loom closer to 2020 - the End of Life of Windows 7 is coming up.

I have 1000+ PC's that are running Windows 7. All PC's currently have Windows 7 Pro installed.

What would the easiest way be to upgrade to Windows 10? Will all Windows 7 Pro licenses work with Windows 10? I'm not too worried about deployment, just if we can upgrade from Windows 7 to 10 without cost at this time.

I did a little research and see the free upgrade to Windows 10 ended back in 2016 - even though I had a co-worker get his Windows 7 PC upgraded to 10 after that dead line past.

Exporting Personal Contacts from Micollab client?

We have a few users that have a list of contacts outside of our corporate listed contacts.

Is there a way to export these contacts?

The reason for this is that I'm working with my vendor this evening to complete an upgrade of our server and the last time we performed this, the update to the Micollab clients took out the contacts.

Thank you!

Quick question.  My Security team would prefer that we install an agent on the computer rather than scanning the network.  Is this possible?

DNS Forwader failing

I have 2 domain controllers

one ending with .12 (domain name aaa) and second ending with .15 (domain name bbb)

The plan was to move all PCs from domain aaa to domain bbb

aaa is a DNS, DHCP, print server, file server and AD

bbb supposed to be DNS, DHCP and AD only

I created a trust between aaa and bbb, every thing was going smooth

Istart moving clients from aaa to bbb with no issues until aaa failed

At that moment I made bbb DNS and DHCP, every thing was good an the moved expedited with no issues and no data lost

One day, I had to reboot bbb, here the problem starts

Out of a sudden no one can access the internet except bbb itself

At this point I digged in and found that forwarder still pointing to .12 not .15

I tried to add the .15 to the dns forwarders and I got the following error

The server forwarders cannot be updated the IP address is invalid

adding an extra TP-Link Jetstream managed switch causes both switches to stop

Hey All,

I find myself in a bit of a bind. I am a one man show and I have a bit of an issue I can't seem to wrap my head around.

The setup is this: FortiGate appliance (firewall), then I have a couple of switches (1 switch on each floor).

Floor 1,2,6.

Firewall is in floor 6 and has a switch connected to it (keep in mind all switches are identical make and model (TP-Link JetStream T1600 24Port). Then there are the cables going through the walls and going down the floors to Floor 2 from Floor 6. In Floor 2 another tp-link switch is connected to the one is floor 6. So far everything is fine and dandy. Then there is another switch in floor 1, which is connected to the switch on floor 2. Again still everything is working great. I needed to add another switch in floor 2 as it is currently full but as soon as I took the uplinks from the other...

Curious about what hackers really think of your cyber defenses? Thycotic’s new 2018 Black Hat Conference survey conducted in Las Vegas in August reveals some disturbing answers.

75% hackers say companies fail at applying the principle of least privilege 50% of hackers say they easily compromised both Windows 10/8 within the past yearMore than 90% say they compromised Windows environments despite the use of Group Policy Objects (GPO)

Join Thycotic’s Chief Cyber Security Scientist Joseph Carson as he dives into what hackers say about top vulnerabilities they exploit, and how companies are failing to control privileged account credentials. He will then guide you through action steps you can take to limit “overprivileged” users without impacting their productivity.

Point to Point Requirements for Residential

Long story, short. I bought a cabin that sits 950 feet back off of a road that has Comcast service. They said it will be a little under $10k to run service to the cabin. One of my best friends happens to own the house across the street. I was wondering what it would take to have service ran to his house and then run a point to point to my cabin?

Thanks in advance,

Stuck in New Registration Dialogue

$

I have been running a Cloud Helpdesk for a number of years with no issues, I am now experiencing an issue where every time I try and access my helpdesk I am presented with a new registration dialogue asking me to select a new helpdesk domain for my account.

I get this if I go directly to the helpdesk URL .on.spiceworks.com or login to spiceworks.com and then navigate to the helpdesk.

I get the same behaviour on a number of computers and using the browser in incognito mode so I don't think the issue is client side. I believe at some point I may have accidently entered my credentials as a new registration instead of a normal login but I'm now effectively locked out of the online helpdesk. There doesn't appear to be any way to exit the new helpdesk registration process. Any insights or help appreciated.

Five ways to ensure password security

Nearly 15 years ago, Bill Gates predicted the demise of passwords as they were "too unreliable", noting that there were other ways of securing devices and granting access to users. Of course, as we still use passwords to this day, we haven't gotten rid of passwords entirely. But, we have seen a shift to other technology for security.

The main problem with passwords is that we (maybe more so users) choose passwords we can remember, such as 123456 - the most common password in the world. Unfortunately, when you create passwords that use names and interests that are specific to yourself, hackers have quick and simple access to many tools that can crack these simple logins in less than an hour.

But, as frustrating as passwords can be, they are an unfortunate fact of life and aren't going away anytime soon. With all of the data breaches,...

DELL R720xd -iDRAC goes 'dark'

Note this server no longer in support so no support available from DELL.

Recently upgraded iDRAC to version 2.60.60.60

Last weekend the entire server went offline after Windows updates. On checking, the server was up but neither the onboard NIC or the dedicated iDRAC NIC could get a network connection. Fix was to move those connections to new ports on the switch and back in business. Switch was then replaced yesterday as IMHO it couldn't now be trusted.

All connections tested and everything fine. I was using the iDRAC last night.

This morning I notice that the switch port the iDRAC is running on is not registering a connection of any kind. A racadm getsysinfo looks OK. Run a " racadm racreset soft" and the iDRAC comes back online.

Q: Am I looking at a failing device here? Correlation with upgraded firmware?

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out how to get printer info from a remote computer per user profile.

I have some code in place, however[Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey] part doesn't appear to work.

SID value and computer info works . But I cannot list anything. I think$userprinters = $RegKey.GetValue("connections") is incorrectly set. Any ideas?

Outlook 2010 sent to alias mailbox auto changes to primary mailbox

Hello Spiceheads!

Having a bit of trouble sending to alias mailboxes via Outlook 2010.

The issue that keeps arising is when I send an email to an alias of a mailbox the sent message is auto changed to the email address to the primary mailbox name.

E.g I send an email to purchasing@domain.com ( alias ). Right after I hit send Outlook auto-completes the address as 'Helpdesk' which is helpdesk@domain.com ( primary mailbox ).

This in turn does not allow my rule sets to delegate mail accordingly and everything comes into helpdesk instead of it's proper assignment.

I've un-ticked the auto-complete in options 'Use Auto-Complete List to Suggest.....' & ' Automatic name checking' from the mail options from within Outlook options.Cleared cache. Same issue arises.

When I send email from an outside source such as gmail it works as intended.

Outlook freezes/crashes when opening an archive file

$

We have a user that has an Outlook archive file that is large (3+ GB) and Outlook refuses to open it on his Surface. It comes up with the ScanPST.exe program to scan it, but that just crashes after is scans it for a while. I can open the Archive fine on my computer, and a couple other computers I tried opening it on. I tried uninstalling - reinstalling office and deleting temp files, and nothing seem to make it cooperate. I tried installing office 2013, and 2016 and both crash with it.

Note we are running a local Exchange server that this mailbox is on, and the archive is stored on his local computer.

Is there a different utility to scan the PST file with?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,

Seeking for a ransomware protected backup and low cost want to use a second router (as gateway) to backup in "external" FTP server

Using Windows static route command route add, a small router TPLINK and a PC with Filezilla FTP server

We create a funtional "external" FTP server, it works fine in tests.

But every time we attach this router TPLINK our domain controller in LAN can't give DHCP and shared folders are unreachable ???

I check DHCP is disable in TPLINK router

route add 192.168.0.0 mask 255.255.255.0 10.1.8.1

Thanks
