We are looking to centrally manage all company iPhones, is this possible?

We would like to be able to control all aspects of the company owned iPhones, to do things such as account resets, re-initialization of the phone, maybe software updates and security features such as passwords (Numeric and account passwords iTunes and the like).

If possible it would also be nice to be able to set up corporate e-mail accounts on the iPhones from a central location. Is this possible to do?

We have a Win2008 R2 SP1 DC(root) with FSMO roles on it and wewould like to deployMS-LAPs on it.
We get the attached error when trying to extend the schema.
We have searched and found numerous similar issues and we have followedall the steps, however, the issue has not resolved yet.

1- regsvr32 schmmgmt.dll, done, still same error.

2- Ensure account member of Schema Admin, Enterprise Admins & Domain Admins, all in place.

3- Windows firewall is off, done no changes.

4- AV is uninstalled. Done no changes.

5- Forest root is this server, yes.

6- Run PS as admin, yes.
7- LAPS installed on the DC yes, all on the local HDD.
8- Restarted DC, yes.

CPU usage high on VM, low on Host

Have a Windows server 2016 running Hyper-V, with a number of VMs for various uses. The most power hungry VM is the terminal server. I've assigned it 12 virtual CPU cores and set its relative weight 3 times that of any other VM. I'm always monitoring the CPU in perfmon and at busy times of the day it starts to spike quite a bit, and hit as high as 80% average on the %ProcessorTime counter. This is when I get a flood of tickets saying "the server is too slow! Do something!"

Meanwhile, on the host, the same counter is steady at 1% average and task manager shows CPU usage at ~30%

Should I be looking at different counters in Performance Monitor? How do you suggest going about giving the terminal server VM some more CPU power?

Thanks

International Women's Day (which took place on March 8th) is near and dear to us at Avast Business, and we've talked about it before here as well as in our blog in the past. We take this time to celebrate the awesome ladies at Avast -- and of course -- all around the world.

This year, we're very proud to have had a chance to work with the San Francisco Chronicle on their recent insert titled "Women in Computing," which featured exceptional women working in the technology/STEM fields.

One of our own team members was featured: Deepali Garg. She works for Avast as part of our AI and Network Security group, and develops machine learning algorithms that help protect our customers from cyberattacks.

In her interview, Deepali talks about how she decided on her career path, what it's like to work with AI, the challenges women face in the...

Remote Desktop Unuseable

Lately I have found remote desktop to be just absolutlyunusable and I have no idea why.

I have two different setups:

Set Up 1:

Windows Server 2016 Hyper-V.

4 Virtual Servers, I use a port forward to connect via RDP over the internet so for example Port 3192 forwards to 1 server, 3193 to the next, etc On average it takes 4-6 tries to get a connection.

1st Try: Black Screen

2nd Try: Login Screen Frozen

3rd Try: Desktop-Unresponsive

4th Try: Working

Sometimes it takes additional tries.

Now if I connect a VPN and then connect via the IP, it usually works ok. Sometimes it takes 2 tries.

Set Up 2:

Windows Desktop PC Windows 10

Same situation. Port forward so I don't show the actual RDP port to the world. It will fail 9/10 times to negotiate the connection. Doing a VPN works no problems.

What can I do to be able to directly RDP over the internet? I don't...

Choosing certificate for SonicWall DPI-SSL

I am in the planning phase for rolling out DPI-SSL on our SonicWall. I have found two conflicting suggestions on creating a custom DPI-SSL certificate and am having trouble identifying any pros/cons to each approach.

Method #1: This can be seen at 18:00 mark in this videohttps://youtu.be/ZxwhpHh7Los?t=1080

What is suggested is basically to export the root AD CA certificate, and then use that as the SonicWall DPI-SSL certificate.

Method # 2:https://www.sonicwall.com/support/knowledge-base/170503319041199/

Summary: Import AD CA certificate as trusted CA on SonicWall. Create CSR on SonicWall and have AD CA sign the certificate. Assign this for use with DPI-SSL.

Are there any major benefits/downsides to one or the other?

Erase HDD, W10 to factory boot for resale

I have a few computers that are in good condition and have fair resale value with W10 OEM installed. I am going to use a drive eraser to erase the disks though, so is there a way to re-load Windows 10 to that "just turned on" state? Any recovery partitions will be wiped in the erasure.

Should I just sell them with a printout of the certificate of deletion for the drive and suggest someone spend money for an OS? Can they insert their own W10 boot disk and reinstall? Does this affect the resale value?

What are some other options here?

fortigate ldap ssl vpn

Trying to set up a new LDAP server for the ssl vpn in my fortigate 100d.  I went into the LDAP Servers section, added my LDAP information, hit test connection, and was successful.  Then I went into User Groups, and went to add the remote server, and select the new server in the drop down, and I get "no such object" twice and "Invalid LDAP Server".  I am using the LDAP for other things, so the server should be working.   Is there a step I am missing in the fortigate?

I'm looking to calculate the total number of IOPS possible for Dell Unity storage array. It is all flash, RAID6, and I have information on calculating that number.

But do I need to consider the switching and network capability of what the Unity is attached to in that calculation?

Do monoprice keystones work with any of the quick termination tools?

I've been buying Monoprice keystones and have been happy with their performance but was wondering if any of the termination tools such as the  JackRapid™ Punchdown Tool,  Greenlee PA8109 CRIMPER or others will work with these keystones. The heads on these tools seem to be interchangeable and are made to work with certain manufactures. Does anyone have any experience using one with monoprice jacks?

2 sites with 2 VPN tunnels between them

Hi All,

Wondering if someone can advise. I have a site to site VPN tunnel between 2 offices. The head office is terminated using routing and remote access on a Windows 2003 server (yes very old), and the site end which has a local DC  and is terminated onto a Draytek router.

The 2003 server is being decommissioned and I plan to re-establish the VPN on the head office side to terminate on a 2012 r2 server. My question is, can I create another VPN tunnel from the new server to the Draytek while the existing link is still up and them terminate the old tunnel.

Many thanks guys!

Virtualizing an ERP software

Ignoring the cost savings associated with virtualization and the cost of migrating an ERP to a virtual environment, is there a reason why an ERP developer would NOT want their system run on a VM? Is it performance related?

Hey guys. We currently have a Bosch security system which we are needing to replace due to adding additional cameras for a total of 30. Have received pricing for an Exacq NVR, but was thinking perhaps of adding additional drives to our VRTX and trying one of the open source or inexpensive products such as iSPY, Blue Iris, etc. Anyone have any experience with these or similar products?
